The short version

Tinysurv uses no advertising cookies. On tinysurv.com we only store what’s needed to keep owners signed in, stop repeat answers, and remember choices you make, like dark mode or a survey you asked us to keep. We count visits to these public pages ourselves, without cookies and without identifying you.

With your permission, we also use Google Analytics to see how the site is used. Its cookies are only set if you choose “Accept all” or switch Analytics on, and you can change your mind at any time with the cookie button in the corner of the page or “Cookie settings” at the bottom. Google’s tag itself loads on our public pages before you choose, so your browser does contact Google straight away (more on that below). It never loads on a customer’s survey, a website pop-up or the pages inside an account.

Everything we store

Some items are cookies; others are kept in your browser’s storage, which works in a similar way.

  • ts_challenge

Remembers that the password was right while the owner types their two-step code.

    10 minutes
  • ts_webauthn

Holds a one-time check while an owner signs in with, or adds, a passkey.

    Type:
    cookie
    Stored by:
    Tinysurv

  • ts_oauth

Makes sure a Google sign-in that comes back to Tinysurv is the one this browser started.

    Type:
    cookie
    Stored by:
    Tinysurv
    Lasts:
    10 minutes
  • ts_device

Set only when someone answers a survey. A random number that lets each device answer a survey once a day, protecting results from repeat answers. Never used to track anyone.

    Type:
    cookie
    Stored by:
    Tinysurv
    Lasts:
24 hours after the last answer
  • theme

Remembers light or dark mode, only when someone picks one with the switch in the header.

    Type:
    browser storage
    Stored by:
    Tinysurv
    Lasts:
Until they change it or clear their browser
  • cc_cookie

    Type:
    cookie
    Stored by:
    Tinysurv
    Lasts:
    6 months
  • ts_draft

Set only if you press Save my survey on the home page. Keeps the question and answer style you chose, so they can be added to your account when you sign up. Nothing is sent to Tinysurv until then.

    Type:
    browser storage
    Stored by:
    Tinysurv
    Lasts:
Until it's added to your account, or 7 days
  • ts_no_stats

    Type:
    browser storage
    Stored by:
    Tinysurv
    Lasts:
Until you switch them back on or clear your browser
  • tinysurv:device

Set only when someone answers a survey. Does the job of ts_device inside a website pop-up, where cookies from Tinysurv may be blocked: a random number for each survey answered, so each device can answer it once a day.

    Type:
    browser storage
    Stored by:
    Tinysurv, inside the pop-up
    Lasts:
24 hours after that survey's last answer
  • tinysurv:<survey code>

When the pop-up was shown, closed or answered, so it doesn't keep appearing. Off until the visitor agrees in the business's cookie tool, unless the business chooses otherwise (to keep it straight away, or never).

    Type:
    browser storage
    Stored by:
    A business's own website, with the pop-up
    Lasts:
    Up to 90 days
  • Cloudflare Turnstile

Checks that a person, not a script, is filling in the form. Anything it keeps stays inside Cloudflare's own check, isn't readable by Tinysurv and isn't used for advertising.

    Type:
    browser storage
    Stored by:
Cloudflare's check on the sign-up and contact forms only, when it's switched on
    Lasts:
As set by Cloudflare, for the check only
  • _gaOptional

Tells one visitor's visits apart from another's, without naming them. Only set if you agree to analytics in the cookie banner.

    Lasts:
    2 years
  • _ga_DYVXBN7GL2Optional

    Google Analytics
    Lasts:

Visitor statistics

To see how our public pages are used, we count visits to them: which pages are viewed, where visitors came from, whether they’re on a phone, tablet or computer, and how many press “Save my survey” on the home page (never what they typed). This uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. To count each visitor once a day, your IP address and browser type are scrambled with a code that changes every day; neither is kept, and the scrambled version is deleted when the day ends. We only keep daily totals. Pages in a business’s account and customers’ surveys are never counted, and nor are visits from browsers set to ask websites not to track them.

Google Analytics

If you agree, Google Analytics tells us which pages are viewed, how visitors found us, what device and browser they use, and roughly where they are (the country and city). Google doesn’t give us your IP address or anything that names you, and we don’t use it for advertising. Google LLC, a US company, processes this for us under the UK–US data bridge, and we keep it for 14 months. Switching Analytics off deletes its cookies.

Before you choose, and if you say no, Google’s tag still loads using Google Consent Mode, set so that it may not use cookies or anything for advertising. Fetching the tag means Google receives your IP address and browser details, and the tag can send Google a basic, cookieless record of the page view. Nothing it sends can tell one of your visits from another.

Payments

When a business owner chooses a paid plan, the checkout is provided by Paddle, our reseller. Paddle’s checkout only loads when they click to pay, and Paddle may store its own cookies to take the payment and prevent fraud. Paddle’s privacy notice explains them.

Website pop-ups

Businesses can show their survey as a pop-up on their own website. That website’s own cookie notice covers what it stores, including the pop-up’s note of when it was shown. Unless the business chooses otherwise, that note is only kept once you agree in their cookie tool, and never for more than 90 days.

Removing them

You can delete cookies and stored items in your browser’s settings at any time. If you do, owners will need to log in again, you may be able to answer a survey again the same day, and a survey you started on the home page but haven’t signed up with yet will be lost.

Questions

Our privacy notice explains what we do with the information itself. Any questions? Contact us.
